From the October Meeting

A reply was received from Uniting Care Wesley in response to Chamber’s request that as much local work as possible be let to local contractors. Uniting Care assured Chamber that they use as many locals as possible and will continue to do so. This was a pleasing response from this organisation, which in recent years has expanded its operations.

President Mark reported that he had spoken with a representative of Business Port Augusta (equivalent of Chamber) and of their successful promotions including a twice yearly open market. The President also said the Business Port Augusta receive $30,000 a year from council to help with promotions.

The executive discussed whether it was also time for a name change. Many felt “Port Pirie Chamber of Commerce and Industry” was a bit outdated.

Have you any suggestions for a new name? If so shoot them off to secretary@pirieregionfirst.com.au
