Following a request from the Chamber re the upgrade of the area known as Prest’s Car park, Council has replied saying there is a possibility that business owners could be lobbied to cover any cost if work was carried out. However, before work can take place, business owners must give approval.
President Mark also brought up a concern from a member re the affect the upgrade could have on shops in Alexander street. Council CEO Andrew Johnson said the concerns were being addressed.
Helen Grace reported to the executive that the awards night would now be held on September 7 at the Port Clubrooms.
President reported Chamber was now on Facebook and urged all members to use it whenever possible to promote the Chamber.
Mayor John Rohde said his recent trip to the Philippines had been worthwhile with several possible outcomes for businesses in the region, particularly the Arrium steelworks.
President Mark voiced his disappointment at not being able to form a quorum at the planned AGM. He and the secretary will look at ways of attracting members to the AGM.
