At the July meeting a long discussion took place on the future of the Chamber, it’s role representing the business community and its long-term plans.  A committee of M. Hanlon, G. Bartel and K.A. Saffin had met to discuss a range of issues.

One issue discussed was a name change. The executive agreed this was necessary and at the next meeting several titles would be submitted, including new logos, for consideration.

It was generally felt that more transparency was needed so the business community could understand the processes and efforts taking place on their behalf.

The meeting also thought there should be another push to have the general membership meet on three to four occasions a year. These events would be informal, a good networking opportunity over a few drinks. It was also suggested that each year the Chamber could have a formal function with proceeds going to a local charity.
